About us
The Center for Cognitive Development at Tel Aviv University was established in 2020 with the aim of providing a home for researchers of cognitive development at Tel Aviv University. The center currently combines the developmental studies of Prof. Shlomit Yuval-Greenberg and Dr. Sagi Jaffe-Dax.
What do we research?
In the adults' branch of the center, which focuses on research involving young and older adults aged 20-120, we study the cognitive and perceptual development of adults across the lifespan. For example, we investigate questions such as: how does the visual system influence and get influenced by cognitive development? How does the acquired information, evolved over time, contribute to perceptual processes? How can we strike a balance between the value of previous perceptual schemes and the crucial role of adjustability? How might changes in perceptual abilities affect cognitive abilities, and how and whether is it preventable? How is cognitive development represented by neuronal activity?
Apparatus
Most of the research conducted at the developmental center involves behavioral studies that incorporate computerized tasks coupled with eye-tracking systems to monitor eye movements. Additionally, there are studies that focus on imaging neuronal activity. For these research, we use Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), and Electroencephalography (EEG).
Take a tour at the laboratory
Adults who took part in the laboratory research are invited to learn more about the ongoing research in the lab and the latest advancements in this field. Naturally, we extend this invitation to children and grandchildren as well! You can bring your family members along for a lab tour, where they can gain insights into the scientists' work and observe the process of scientific research. Additionally, they may have the opportunity to participate in age-appropriate tasks if they wish.
We adjust the tour by age, so make sure to contact us in advance.
